February 2013

Another frustrating month but had some good news towards the end of the month that, our application for a rental grant on the lease had been accepted, and our application for a 25 year lease would be put before the full cabinet of the council on April 3rd.

January 2013

Quiet month waiting for confirmation of lease. Committee impatient to get started now.

December 2012

Applied for a grant under the “Love Where You Live” scheme run by Monmouthshire Housing Association for the Picnic/Seating Area part of the project.

November 2012

Received news from Gareth King that a 25 year lease on the land seemed acceptable to the Council subject to full cabinet consent. Formally set up a committee, appointed the officers, drew up a constitution and opened a bank account in the Group’s name. Presented our plans to the Community Council who liked our ideas(…)

October 2012

Decided on the name “Portskewett & Sudbrook Sport & Leisure” for our Community Group and formed the basis of a committee. Received drawn up plans of the project from Mark Harry, very impressive.

September 2012

We had a meeting on site with Mike Moran ( Mon C.C. ) and Mark Harry ( Maison Design ) to discuss our project. A positive reaction from all parties and Mike would look into funding strategies and Mark would draw up plans for “The Cornfield Project”

August 2012

August 9th 2012 Peter Fox arranged a meeting on site at The Cornfield for us with Gareth King from Monmouthshire County Council to discuss our plans and the likelihood of obtaining a lease. Meeting seemed to go well and Gareth liked our ideas.

The Beginning

April 23rd 2012. Following informal chats a meeting, come get together, was held at the Portskewett Inn and “The Cornfield Project” was born.
